                              History of Hendersonville North Carolina

Hendersonville North Carolina was officially recognized as the county seat of Henderson
County on January 7, 1847. The county of Henderson is called a typical mountain county, because it consists of elements such as mountain ranges, isolated peaks, a rolling plateau and level valley areas. Elevations range from 1400 feet near Bat Cave at the foot of the Blue Ridge, to 5000 feet on Little Pisgah. Hendersonville is settled on a intermountain plateau which made it easy access much of its agricultural growth. Hendersonville has had easy access from the lowlands and quickly became a vacation destination for tourists to spend the summer months to escape the sweltering heat and enjoy a milder, cooler climate. Hendersonville is a major tourist attraction even today and has been entertaining tourists for more than a century.
